Welcome to Jesters Nursery School in Danbury – the home of School Readiness

Based in the historic, Victorian building ‘The Old School House’, steeped in children’s learning and education. We are extremely proud to have been one of the few settings in Essex inspected as STRONG in ALL AREAS by Ofsted in November 2025, under the brand new system. You can read the report here: https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/16/EY551394

Jesters are blessed to have two nursery settings in the adjacent villages of Bicknacre and Danbury that provide for natural transitions, offering a fully integrated early years provision, co-located over two sites.

Jesters Danbury capitalises on and dedicates itself to our School Readiness Programme, operating as a distinct and exceptional satellite Nursery School, preparing our pre-schoolers for the transition to primary education. Whilst Jesters Bicknacre specialises in under 3s with the children transitioning to Danbury once they are pre-school age. We welcome both Jesters Bicknacre children transitioning up and new 3-4 year old children wanting to gain the best start on their journey to primary school.

Jesters School Readiness Programme is headed up by two of our qualified teachers; our Servicewide Nursery School and Curriculum Lead and Head of Education, putting the focus on our Jesters educational offer. Our vision is ‘Building Futures for the Next Generation’ and we are so excited that Jesters Nursery School builds on our excellent reputation. We have always promoted aspirational visions and our ethos is influenced by contemporary and forward thinking, to be at the forefront of modern practice and to complement our already successful ‘Hybrid approach’ to childcare, learning, development and welfare.
