Jesters unique Steps to School Readiness Programme

Having a strong teaching core of qualified teachers with years of school experience head up our offer is such a huge asset to Jesters. They have a complete understanding of the expectations of both the children and Nursery Schools and have a true insight into what School Readiness really means.

Our Steps to School Readiness Programme is currently being used in all of our Jesters settings. The first years of a child’s life are fundamentally important: They are the foundations that shape children’s future health, happiness, growth and development, and learning at school, as well as in the family and community. Jesters ethos on preparation for school is at the heart of everything we do with the children, not just when they are four. We nurture and support them from the moment they begin with Jesters so that they feel safe and confident in their crucial early years development.

With Danbury Nursery School as a stand alone School Readiness site, this gives children the rare experience of a physical transition. Many children attend the same setting from birth right to the age where they go to school. They do not get to experience what it is like to transfer skills used into a new environment, and they are not given the opportunity to demonstrate emotional resilience in a setting that is not their familiar ‘home from home’. Danbury Nursery School offers this crucial step amongst the many other experiences to becoming school ready, for both Jesters Bickcncare children and those joining us for the first time.

The programme has evolved since its conception and is continually evaluated and adapted to meet the needs and level of our current cohort and with school and parental feedback gained along the way.
