Meet the Jesters Family at Bicknacre Nursery

Background

Hi, I am Emma. I have over 25 years experience working in childcare and have worked in varied settings over the years both here in the UK and in Australia.

In that time, I have worked in schools, nurseries, home settings and for ten of those years I worked in Basildon Hospital on the neonatal ward, children’s ward and maternity, where I have met lots of amazing people and gained much experience.

During my time in Australia for three plus years I worked as a private Nanny and Carer for families full and part time also looking after children and young adults with special needs.

On my return from Australia in 2021 I worked worked for a lovely family as a private Nanny for two years until they moved overseas, then I started working for an agency and that’s what lead me to Jesters. I only worked a few shifts as agency and loved it, I immediately felt welcome by all so I now work 2/3 days a week and am part of the Jesters Family.

I love being part of the Jesters’ family and have been made to feel very welcome from the start. I love the varied age groups of children and enjoy getting to know each individual child and their unique characters.

I love my Practitioner role at Jesters Bicknacre in the Squirrel’s Room where I feel part of the team and enjoy creating a safe, happy and welcoming environment for all the children, making it interesting, educational and fun and doing my best to meet each and individual child’s needs.

Outside work

I live with my husband and two grown up children and pet dog and cat. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, enjoy going on long dog walks, and have many creative Hobbies including Art, Baking, sewing etc.

Favourite children’s book

My favourite children’s books for me growing up were The Three Little Pigs and Goldie Locks and The Three Bears. I still enjoy reading them to children today. My favourite books to read as an Early Years Practitioner are The Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and much more!
