Meet the Jesters Family at Bicknacre Nursery

Background

My full name is Diane Rowley but I am known as Di. I am a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner at Jesters Bicknacre based in the Squirrels Room.

I have over 20 years experience working in childcare and during my career I have gained a Higher National Diploma in Special Needs Education. I have worked in every age range from babies up to pre-school.

The Jesters Family

I chose to join Jesters as I wanted a new challenge and I love that Jesters gives me that. I wanted to be a part of a team that has the children at the heart of every decision made whether that be the learning or the resources to support that.

Working as an Early Years Practitioner at Jesters my role is to support the Room Leader and the other staff to provide a wide range of activities and learning opportunities that encourage the children to think for themselves and challenge their own ideas.

I love working with children because I love to see their curiosity sparked and to develop that curiosity more by enhancing their learning opportunities whether this be physically or emotionally and to see children’s confidence blossom.

During my time at Jesters I look forward to enhancing my career and taking on more responsibilities whether this be as a Deputy Room Manager or just generally within the nursery.

Outside work

I live with my husband and our puppy Magic. I love nothing better than to sit down with a good book or watch a great film.

Favourite children’s book

My favourite children’s book is Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae because I like the moral of the story; which is that just because you think you need a certain type of music to dance to, you don’t. You can dance to your own tune meaning we don’t all have to be the same and do the same things, it’s okay to be different and that is to be celebrated!
